Excerpt from a history text book for class 3, circa 2152, Sector 42, Kurukkupettai Galaxy

Long ago, in the era of annoying ringtones, overcharging auto-rickshaws and pointless soap operas, a crime was perpetrated against a generation of kids. Cruel experiments involving sensory deprivation were performed on them. In the name of providing engineering “education”, a certain university in the sea-side town of Chennai (galactic coordinates here ) imposed rules. Rules, boys and girls. Rules. Ok. Let us let the picture to the talking.

I have no more words. May this universe never experience this kind of college administration ever again.

Many of these private engineering colleges focus on the wrong things. I have even heard of colleges having partitions on the roads and even in classrooms to ensure that “boys and girls don’t interact” 😉 …Funny guys..There have been cases when the watchman literally blows the whistle when he finds a boy and girl speaking to each other in the corridor. God bless these colleges…I just wish these colleges focus on better faculty, infrastructure and education.

What makes a generation better citizens ?? Concentration camps that turn them into socially retarded freaks ? That don’t allow them the experience of making mistakes and learning by them ?? That don’t allow them to choose from various ways of life and picking the one that best suits them ??? EDUCATIONAL insti’s shud offer education – n stop poking their noses into their students personal lives (and hygiene habits) !
Mr. Ranga – I think ur problem is that u didn’t go to Jailabama ! How abt spending the next 4 yrs there swotting up stuff u ll never use in life, and kneeling in the sun for borrowing an eraser [and i mean ERASER only 😉 ] from ur girl classmate ??

You know what, sir? I spent 4 years in one of those prisons. They didn’t have this as a written down rule, but rather as an unspoken guideline, like the British constitution. And do you know what came out of it? Nothing. Produced some of the WORST citizens, frustrated, crazy, anit-social, alcoholic and devoid of any perceivable social skills.

I would never let my children go through what I went through there.

Grow up and move on Mr. Rangarajan. You must leave the ancient times behind to rest in peace.

I studied in this Mother F***ing college at its worst. Squads, and all. It was shit, 4 years in hell n 3yrs on i’m still having nightmares. Still find it hard to talk to gals having been in that oppressive environment and in the shit hostel. Just sick. Wish I had known bout the rules before I had joined, I woulda joined some other good college, like SRM and had a better life.
Sigh . . .
Now its too late for me . . .
Just hope that others don have to go through the same . . .

endured sathyabama and its creator – Jeppiar for at least 3 months before I could gather the courage to tell my parents that ‘NO MATTER WHAT I AM GETTING OUTTA THIS PLACE”!!!!
Though I believe that things have drastically changed now – Ever since the Riots (long story) the management has been so scared that they dare not implement these ridiculous rules!!!! Freedom always finds its way!!!!

WTF!!

It’s two years since you wrote this post. Wonder if these colleges still have the same rules.
Also with too many colleges and demand for Engineering seats going down, I wonder if they can still afford to keep these utterly stupid rules.

No wonder many of these students lack the social skills required to interact with the opposite gender at corporate environments.

So I’m hearing a lot of guys saying that they don’t know how to interact with girls because of this, but how do the girls get along with meeting and talking to a guy? (Or does it not matter to guys how girls interact with them as long as there’s interaction?) Just wondering because I had no idea that this kind of stuff was still going on.
